Black History Month

25th October 2024Ashley Elliott

October has seen us all look at a special person as part of Black History Month.

Reception looked at Mo Farah, his amazing Olympic achievements and of course – the MoBot!

Year 1 were engaged hearing the story of Rosa Parks. They made banners and even recreated their own march in the school yard.

Year 2 studied Marcus Rashford, Mary Seacole and Maya Angelou and found out facts about each famous person, presenting in different way.

Spooky Day

25th October 2024Ashley Elliott

Our last day was spooky day for our PTA!

The costumes were fantastic, some made it very hard to recognise some of the children!

The children had a super day!

We raised £247 for the PTA.

We held kindness awards for the end of our character focus this term as well as selecting children for the winners of our raffle.

Thank you we raised £304! Each year group will receive a part of the total raised for any additional resources!

Harvest Festival

18th October 2024Ashley Elliott

This week Year 1 celebrated Harvest Festival where they thought about all of the food that has been grown through a singing, dancing and writing extravaganza.

The children thought about all of the different foods that the farmers gather at this time of the year when the season changes.

Thank you for all the generous food donations which were collected by the team from Key Project. There is an increased demand at the food bank and sadly, Marie felt that our donations alone would probably only last a few weeks.

Centre for Life – Year 2

18th October 2024Ashley Elliott

Year 2 had a fantastic time at the Centre For Life.

We enjoyed exploring the space zone where we were able to touch some real space rock as well as use some construction blocks to create our own rockets.

We were also entertained in a fantastic science show where we time travelled to meet some super inventors and their creations.

In our Science workshop we explored how astronauts manage to eat with zero gravity and we designed a meal for an astronaut which had to weigh exactly 100grams.

Lunch is always the best part of the day and we were all ravenous!

After dinner we enjoyed watching a show called Little Bear in the planetarium which was really exciting.  After a little play in the soft play area it was time to go home after an action packed day.
