What a fantastic time Year 2 had at surfing this week! The children went down to South Shields Surf School, got on their wet suits and headed straight down to the sea! Class 3 were amazing even standing up on their surf boards and Class 4 had other plans, due to the weather, but they had the most amazing time jumping over waves and looking for different sea creatures!

Reception had a wonderful morning as our hall was transformed into a Little City. We enjoyed role playing different occupations and talked about our own aspirations for the future.

We enjoyed a visit from Audrey from Guide dogs and her ambassador dog Ralph. We found out how Audrey trains guide dog puppies and how guide dogs help blind people.

We have been finding out how animals help us. We enjoyed a visit from Rachel and her Police dogs Chase and Hudson. We found out how Police dogs use their fantastic sense of smell to help police officers. We hid tennis balls and Hudson was able to use his sense of smell to locate where they were on our yard.

Year 2 visited St.Mary’s lighthouse, it was an amazing day. Our first activity was rockpooling, the children found an array of sea life such as hermit crabs, green shore crabs, shrimps and fish. During the afternoon they climbed to the top of the light house, it has 137 steps! We then talked about the history of lighthouses and the jobs of the lighthouse keepers. It was great!

WE ARE CHAMPIONS!!!
A huge well done to our Y1 + Y2 girls who represented our school brilliantly at the Foundation of Light Girls Football Tournament at Fords Hub today.
They played a number of 10 minute games against other schools from around the region.
The final was between ourselves and Bexhill Primary School and we won 2-1!!!
Their teamwork and support and encouragement for each other was tremendous – Miss Holt and Miss Curry were very proud.

Reception have enjoyed a visit from our local community police officer as part of our People who help us topic. We enjoyed asking lots of questions and explored the special uniform and equipment. We even got to sit in the police car.
