Wednesday 29th January we celebrated Chinese New Year.
Our Reception children have had a week immersed all things China, finding all about the culture and how the Chinese celebrate Chinese New Year. They had fun in their Chinese take-away role play corner, re-created the animal race and even completed a dragon dance in the hall. The children have had lots of fun learning which is so important.

It was great to welcome parents/carers into school to work with their child as part of a learning workshop.
We have had some lovely, positive feedback about the session so we are so pleased that they were beneficial for our families.

This week we were lucky to welcome Miriam from the Islamic Diversity Centre.
She came into school to speak to our year 1 and 2 children about her Islam faith.
The children really enjoyed hearing about the faith and looking at the artefacts she shared.

We welcome Leah from Sign it Hear to carry out small workshops with each of our classes in school. This was really valuable and helped give our children an understanding of deaf awareness and an introduction to British Sign Language.
We feel it is really important that all of our children are aware that we are all different and unique.

Our school council decided to ask for some donations to create some Kindness Hampers for some of the residents of Sycamore Lodge.
We were blown away by the kindness of our families at this busy time – we raised over £200.00 alongside donations of blankets, socks, biscuits and sweet treats.
Miss Curry and the school council set to work making all the hampers and with the help of Mr. Orr and Boldon School’s Minibus we delivered all the parcels to the care home.
A huge Thank you to our families for supporting our school council with this wonderful idea that we know will make the residents very happy!
Merry Christmas!
